  1. Make sure that you have an account with Google

Before you start setting up Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics, you should make sure that you have an account with Google in order to access their services. If you have an Android device, you probably have one setup already. If you have a GMail or Googlemail email address, you already have a Google account. If not, get yourself a personal GMail account, or if you are a business, you may want to consider signing up for GSuite in order to access additional power-user tools, as well as having an "ad-free" experience when using Gmail and other services provided by Google.
  2. Register For Google Analytics

Once you are sure that you have your credentials for your Google Account, navigate to the Google Analytics site and click the "Start For Free" button. You may then be asked to sign in using your Google credentials. You should then be guided through the process of adding an account, and a property (website). Once this is completed, you will be given a tracking ID. If the wizard does not start automatically when you sign in, go to the "Admin" menu (cog icon in the bottom left hand corner), to complete the process manually.
